Explore the pleasures of the Portes du Soleil in Morzine

Morzine is the 'heart' of the vast Portes du Soleil ski domaine which straddles the French/Swiss border. It is an easy 70 minutes transfer from Geneva airport. Morzine retains all the charm and character of an old fashioned Savoyarde village with a blend of traditional and modern shops, bars and restaurants. The old town with its weekly market, town square, beautiful church and other historic buildings on the banks of the river Dranse, has a charm to be found in few other ski resorts.

The skiing in the Portes du Soleil, said to be the largest linked ski area in the world, is extensive and varied and will fulfil all abilities from the challenging Swiss Wall to numerous green/blue runs for beginners. Snowboard parks abound and the 26 mile circuit taking in Avoriaz, Chatel, Morgins and Champery is a great day out.

For adventurous boarders and freestyle skiers there is a new challenging half pipe in Avoriaz.  There are also snow parks in Avoriaz, Les Gets and in Le Croset over in Switzerland.

Morzine offers a lively selection of evening activities and entertainment from the many bars and restaurants to night clubs open until daybreak. There is an indoor and outdoor ice skating rink with national league ice hockey matches, ten pin bowling, sports bars and two small cinemas plus a floodlit piste and all within a few minutes walk of Chalet George.
